Email viruses are the number one cause of headaches today for email administrators. They
spread across the Internet like a wildfire. Administrators can spend all day trying to clean up the
effects of one virus only to have another virus enter the system and start creating havoc. That's not to
mention the downtime and costs involved with the cleanup and restoration of systems damaged by viruses.
The PC virus scanners sold today go a long way toward solving the virus problem. However, many computers
are not properly updated with security patches or virus signatures. This could allow a new virus to enter
your system undetected and allowed to cause havoc or destruction of data. Just keeping a computer updated all the
time can be a very time consuming task.
Inter Tech of KC has combined several "best of breed" products that provide a superior protection against
virus infected email, at the system level. We're not trying to infer that you should NOT run virus scanning
on your local PC. Doing that would be very unwise. This solution provides an extra "layer of protection"
for your network system.
Benefits and Features:
- Compatible with ANY email system
- Self Updating -- Checks for updates twice per day
- Highly configurable -- Customize configuration to your needs
- Transparent to the user -- Requires no software on end user computers.
- Capability of filtering for spam
We have several options available to protect your systems against viruses, and the damage caused by them.
For companies with existing on site email services
Option #1.
Every Internet domain name as a Mail Exchanger (MX) record. The MX record for your domain is changed so that email is sent
to ITofKC's email servers. We maintain multiple email servers for maximum redundancy. The email arrives at ITofKC's server - is scanned for virus infection and then is immediately forwarded to your mail server. We do NOT have access to the
content of your email, as it is discarded from our server immediately after your mail server accepts it for delivery. Your
local email server is configured to ONLY accept email from the ITofKC mail servers -- thus greatly reducing the chances of
a harmful virus entering your system.
|
Option #2.
A computer is installed at your company's location. All incoming Internet mail is directed to that machine, and your current mail server is configured to stop accepting mail directly from the Internet. This has a key benefit: Since your internal mail server is not directly connected to the Internet,
it is also protected from Denial of Service (DOS) attacks. Some commercial email systems are vulnerable to several DOS attacks - and this will shield your system from this.

For companies that do not currently have on site email services.
Option #1.
Let ITofKC host your email services for you. This is cost effective for smaller companies with fewer than 15 email
addresses. Since the computer - it's maintenance, updates and upkeep are our responsibility - the total cost over time is more affordable. Email hosted on our system can be accessed via an easy to use web interface.

Option #2.
A computer is installed at your company's location. All incoming Internet mail is directed to that machine. Your local computers poll this server for email, or you can access it via
an easy to use web interface.
